Ethanol
Aloha Petroleum began importing ethanol to meet the new
state mandate that becomes effective April 2, 2006. Aloha received approximately 5,000,000 gallons of ethanol aboard
the vessel Golden Venus on February 24, 2006 at its Barbers Point
Terminal.
The new state mandate requires that all gasoline sold in Hawaii contain ten percent ethanol. The blended ethanol/gasoline products will be called E-10. Aloha has modified its fuel storage terminals and stations to store and blend E-10 and these products will be available in late March at all Aloha locations.
The E-10 blend will apply to all three grades of gasoline products sold by Aloha and there will be no degradation in octane ratings. The state mandate does not apply to diesel fuels.
Now that ethanol is a NEW component of gasoline fuels in the state, we want to provide you with resources to answer any questions you may have relating to ethanol.
Here are the top two questions
on most customers’ minds today.
1.
Will E-10 work in my vehicle?
Gasoline containing ethanol has been available in over 41 states for more than 10 years…and in over 24 states, has been used for over 20 years. Every automaker approves the use of E-10 gasoline.

2.
Can I use E-10 in my small engines and power
equipment?
Since E-10 is available all across the United States, it makes sense that manufacturers of small engines and power equipment have built their products to run on this renewable, clean-air fuel.
